Functioning Search Engine Optimization For Your Blog Or Site

Search engine optimization for your blog can be a complicated process even for a seasoned web user or developer. If it search engine criteria wasn’t in a state of constant then learning what is best for your pages would just be a matter of reading a book or two or attending a one day seminar.

The best search tools on the web rate websites on a large number of different things to provide the best possible results. If you have two identical pages one with a little optimization and the other untouched then it’s obvious which is going to rank higher.

There’s no point in giving out any clues as to which page will rank higher a week from now. You could try making one of the pages with the title as part of the URL. Then edit the other one with the title of your page piece in you Meta tag. Ping re-submit your site to some search engines and you will see which is more important in no time at all. Of course, anyone with an ounce of sense would use both.

Using a good page URL when writing your blog is often missed by a lot of people. When testing you page it’s a good idea to include one exact line of text from your writing on the page. Make sure that the line you use is relevant to the title and Meta tag that you are testing. Through constant testing and re-testing, you’ll have a good idea of what is currently working and what is a fading trend.

Something that has been around for years are back links which; as the name suggests, link back in to your site. In the past it was a good idea to get as many back links from as many places as you could. There were even schemes around which operated as a link exchange so that you got links to your site in return for links to others.

These are actually a good example of how things have changed when it comes to optimization. These days the search tools recognize that links are reciprocal, so if you have more links coming in than going out then this is good.

To say that back links are worthless would be a big mistake and one that nobody should make. The important thing to remember is that if a site links in to your blog about football and the linking site is a football site then it’s a good link. If you have a hundred sites about football linking in to your blog and they in turn have lots of good links then this is very good.

To put it in a nutshell, there are a hundred thousand things that are or have been good methods of optimization. The best thing someone could do is talk to someone that does it for a career or invest in some software that can take care of most of it. Whatever you decide to do, search engine optimization for your blog is something you need to get right.
